Borrago launches with new alcohol-free botanical spirit

Non-alcoholic spirit brand, Borrago, has launched in the UK with a beverage free of sugar and calories that’s designed to be used in the same way as gin or vodka.

Responding to the growing trend for non-alcoholic drinks, the brand said #47 Paloma Blend does not try to taste like gin, but is built up from the ground “with layers of distinct flavours and aromas to make a drink like no other”.

Made from steam distilled botanicals, it is said to have complex and layered flavour with a long, smooth finish. The six botanicals are individually distilled and processed to retain their flavours.

Borrago was founded by food and drink entrepreneur, Tom Tuke-Hastings, who launched the brand because of his love of food, drink and entertaining.

“With alcohol being a declining part of this, I struggled to find exciting grown up non-alcoholic options and wanted to create something that would be delicious, grown up and worth celebrating with,” he said.

“Non-alcoholic drinks choices have previously been seen as childish, sugar laden and downmarket. I set out to create something sophisticated, that you can celebrate and even show off with. Where you can have the theatre of a cocktail without the alcohol, sugar or calories.”

Borrago #47 Paloma Blend is now available in a 500ml bottle for £19.99 (Approx ZAR 340).
