14 Mar 2014 Tetra Pak acquires Miteco to strengthen CSD business

Miteco is a privately held company established in 1982, with 70 employees across sites in Switzerland, Italy, UK and South America.

Tetra Pak’s business presence in more than 170 countries worldwide is expected to extend Miteco’s current global reach.

Tim High, executive vice president of Tetra Pak Processing Systems said, “The deal also extends the company’s beverage production capabilities in a number of key areas, including sugar handling, dissolving, refining, mixing and blending beverage ingredients, providing an important complement to our existing portfolio of processing solutions.”

Guillermo Fernandez, sales and operations director of Miteco, said: “We are confident that becoming part of Tetra Pak will allow the Miteco business to continue to grow. Tetra Pak’s global presence, plus the combined knowledge and skills of our two companies, promise improved solutions and better services for both existing and future customers worldwide.”

Miteco will form a stand-alone business within Tetra Pak, with a focus on carbonated soft drinks for the company.

“The employees will continue to be based in their current locations in Switzerland and Italy and Guillermo Fernandez, currently managing director of Miteco, will continue to lead the daily business as sales and operations director,” said High.
