The finding, it says, was discovered upon comparing a 2014 Research Report from Canadean (a leading market research provider to the beverage industry) which tracks global packaged sparkling water volume consumption, with company data.
SodaStream users worldwide consumed over 700 million litres of unflavoured sparkling water, well ahead of the next largest brands: Singha (558m litres), San Pellegrino (480m litres), and Perrier (412m litres), according to Canadean.
“We are thrilled that Canadean’s data validates SodaStream as the #1 sparkling water brand in the world and that consumers are responding well to our commitment to providing delicious sparkling water at the touch of a button,” says Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream. “But this is only a milestone on our path to changing the way consumers around the world hydrate by drinking more water and fewer high-calorie, processed beverages.”
Recent surveys in the US1 and UK2, notes SodaStream, have found that those with a SodaStream in the home, consume 43 percent more water and water-based drinks, than those without one.
