SAB launches Carling Blue Label

Says SAB’s press release: ‘As they did for Carling Black Label, Carling brewers have pushed the boundaries with the creation of the new beer. It is made from a select single-variety malted barley, giving it a bold Carling taste. The recipe, as designed by master brewers, ensures a special drinking experience, full of flavour.’

“The normal blended barley malt varieties are not used in this beer. This malt is specially selected and cultivated and is stored separately from other blended malts, to ensure its single variety integrity when used in Carling Blue Label beer,” says brewmaster Danie Odendaal.

“Carling Blue Label beer uses a traditional German noble hop variety to supply a subtle complex character on aroma that results in a slight spicy, floral and herby note. This is complemented by the fruity ester character, which is typical of a Carling Black Label,” he adds.

Carling’s GM, Vijay Govindsamy, says this move by Carling had been made after it was certain that it could deliver an exceptional product that would be distinctive and yet retain the qualities of the country’s most globally awarded beer. “We have created our first single malt beer that is exceptionally made and provides a richly rewarding experience for anyone wanting to make a bold choice.”

Carling Blue Label beer is available at all main liquor retailers and can be found in 330ml non-returnable bottles as well as 440ml cans. Recommended selling price for a case of 24 is between R209.99 and R249.99.
