04 Feb 2024 New boss for Diageo’s SA operations

Diageo South Africa has appointed Andrew Ross as the new General Manager, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean unit, effective 1 January 2024. 

Before this appointment, Andrew was the MD of Diageo’s business unit: Africa Emerging Markets (AEM). 

Ross joined Diageo in 2018 as a MD for Guinness Cameroon, bringing a wealth of experience from his 20 years spent with SABMiller where he held several senior leadership roles in South Africa, Zambia, and Nigeria, as well as a period with Dashen Breweries in Ethiopia. 

“Andrew is known for his abundant energy and has significant experience in turning around business performance while growing people, brands, and businesses in a sustainable way. We are delighted to have Andrew in this role and leading the team in unlocking growth in Southern Africa and Indian Ocean,” reads the company statement.  

Ross replaces Gavin Pike, who after 20 years with the company, has decided to pursue the next phase of his career outside Diageo.
