15 Jul 2015 New adult malt drink for non-drinkers
Competing in the growing alcohol-free malt sector BREVA Bev Co (a subsidiary of Bumi Hills Group) says its new drink taps into a ‘glamorous image and globalised lifestyle’ that other soft drinks can’t match.
“We have a huge emerging middle class in South Africa that does not drink alcohol. Because of their disposable income they seek a drink that they can drink comfortably as adults when they are out and about and when they are at home – a drink that talks to their image,” says BREVA Bev Co.
Manufactured and bottled in Wellington, Cape Town, BREVA is made from non-fermented malt and does not undergo any fermentation. It’s packaged in a stylish, green flint bottle with a twist-off crown closure, and comes in four flavours that blend well with malt – passion fruit, apple, peach, and pineapple.
BREVA is targeted primarily at the 18-34 urban metro professionals falling in LSM 7-10, male and female who seek an alcohol-free lifestyle or who drink occasionally and, at a secondary level, at alcohol drinkers seeking a pacer drink.
“The brand is purposefully bold, designed to complement what it stands for: indulgence without recklessness, says the company. “Its iconography – SA’s regal blue crane – is a symbol of the pride BREVA takes in rewarding individuals for their smart decisions and their courage to choose to live their values, while at the same time positioning them as cool and trendy achievers who understand and deserve quality.”
Shortly after launch, the brand has enjoyed success – being made available at select Tsogo Sun 4 and 5 star hotels, and it was an official beverage supplier to the SA Fashion Week (SAFW) Spring/Summer Collections showcase, which took place in Jo’burg in March.
BREVA is available at Pick n Pay, Shoprite, and Checkers Liquor outlets in the Western Cape Province, select Spur outlets in the Western Cape and independent restaurants, and grocery outlets, at an RSP of R11.
Carb count ranges between 11.8g and 12.9g per 100ml.
