01 Apr 2022 KWV joins the bag-in-box wine party
Pearly Bay, KWV’s popular range of quality, easy drinking wines, has extended its footprint and accessibility in the South African market with the launch of a 3-litre bag-in-box (BIB) version.
“Offering exceptional value for everyday enjoyment, all tastes and occasions, the new BIBs represent the diverse flavour spectrum of Pearly Bay’s classic 750ml glass bottle selection,” says the KWV press release.
Three variant are available: a crisp, fruity and refreshing Dry White; a fruity and soft tannined Smooth Red; and a Sweet Rosé.
“Boxed wine is a booming category, especially in 3-litre packs as wine lovers become more aware of their benefits in terms of the environment, value for money and convenience,” says Vanessé Smal, brand manager of Pearly Bay wines.
“The overall growth of more than 10% in the local boxed wine market, coupled with the growth in volume and value of more than 46% of our Pearly Bay wines, bodes well for our new BIB offering to create an even greater consumer demand.”
She adds that BIB wines are trending at all price points with the 3-litre format leading the charge locally at an annual growth rate of 18%.
“By far the most effective for reducing a wine’s carbon footprint, the lighter and more compact 3-litre BIBs offer a more sustainable packaging solution.
“Another major consumer benefit is the ability to preserve the wine by avoiding exposure to oxygen long after it has been opened.
“Exceptional value, easy storage and break proof transportation make BIBs particularly popular for outdoor enjoyment and life’s more simple pleasures.
The 3-litre Pearly Bay wines are rolling out into selected stores countrywide.
At an RSP of R129.99, the Pearly Bay 3-litre BIB offers consumers easy drinking, everyday convenience and great value.
