24 Apr 2014 Introducing new Amarula Gold!
Amarula, a local premium brand that’s now a global sensation, celebrates its 25th birthday this year. Fitting for this milestone, Distell has launched Amarula Gold, a super-smooth, sophisticated premium spirit with a bold new taste.
“Amarula Gold is refreshing, original and has a totally unexpected flavour with seductively spicy notes and a silky-smooth palate,” says global spokesperson, Adéle Ankiewicz, of the trailblazing drink with a 30% alcohol by volume.
“Its vibrantly aromatic and fruity nose with seductively spicy notes, opens onto a smooth palate. Made for mixing, it’s being enjoyed over ice with soda, Appletiser, ginger ale, passion fruit or a host of other mixers. Consumers love its versatility.”
She calls it a “stylish, daring and premium choice that offers a taste of the exciting, new and urban face of Africa. It’s a true African original that expresses the continent’s fast-paced dynamic energy which is the source of so much of the world’s current creativity.”
Just like Amarula Cream, Amarula Gold is made from hand-harvested marula fruit, double distilled and aged in oak for 24 months to enhance its aromatic, fruity flavour, but unlike it, no cream is added.
Local lips are already loving Amarula Gold, says South Africa’s marketing manager for the brand, Christelle Bester.
“Launched exclusively in the domestic and duty-free markets, Amarula Gold has been wowing shoppers since its debut in early March, with an additional production run planned to keep up with demand. Meanwhile, Facebook fans climbed to over 12 000 in just over three weeks.”
Bester adds that the local market response to Amarula Gold is mirrored in international duty-free stores, where male and female consumers are also delighting in the sophisticated clear spirit.
South Africa and selected duty-free markets are the first to sell Amarula Gold, scheduled for global launch from September.
“It’s an adventurous drink with a totally original taste and complements the 17% ABV Amarula Cream, allowing brand lovers to broaden their repertoire. It also appeals to consumers who don’t generally drink cream products and creates an opportunity for them to experience a new expression of the distinctive and exotic taste of the marula fruit.”
The new spirit comes dressed in a clear version of the now famous Amarula 750ml bottle to show off the spirit’s gleaming gold colour and sports a black version of the neck tassel. It retails for between R139 and R154.
