26 Jan 2016 Carbonates take a global hit, but soft drinks remain stable
Euromonitor recently released new data for soft drinks and the results show 2015 as the slowest year for global carbonates growth in all of its historic data set.
Microeconomic factors are definitely to blame, but there is also a heightened global sense of health and wellness that is turning consumers away from carbonated drinks.
As consumers look to lower their sugar and calorie intake and governments looking to tax these beverages, both emerging and developed markets will continue to see slow sales in carbonated soft drinks.
Overall, however, soft drink sales are showing stable volume growth, boosted by sparkling water, enhanced water and other bottled water varieties.
